Blessings to you all! In preparation for Sunday, I would invite you to read Philippians 1:15-23 as we will think together about the Preeminence of Christ. I am looking forward to being with you on Sunday as we worship together!!

One of the verses that I reflect on to encourage me to be active in sharing my faith in 1 Peter 1:15:

“But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.”

Peter reminds us to always be prepared. Opportunities to share Christ with others are everywhere if we will be ready when they come. Furthermore, Peter reminds us that as we do, our attitude matters. We are to treat people with gentleness and respect. How we say what we say is just as important as what we say.

Honestly, though, do you find that you struggle sometimes with how to start a spiritual conversation? I know I do. Here’s something I do that I find helpful. The next time you are at a restaurant, ask the waitress, “How can I pray for you?” And then listen. Sometimes I don’t get a response at all. But I am amazed at how many times a person that I do not know opens their life up and shares a deep felt concern. If I have the opportunity to pray with them, I will. But if not I assure them that I will be praying for them. And sometimes just asking if I can pray for someone opens up the opportunity to share the gospel. The thing I love about this simple method is that you can use this method of asking for prayer anywhere and with anyone (your mechanic, hairdresser, neighbor, yard man, family member, etc.).

Always be ready. Step out in faith. Follow the Holy Spirit’s leadership. And watch what God does! There is no greater joy than in telling someone about Jesus!!

See you Sunday,
Tim
