This past Sunday was a wonderful day in the house of the LORD. It was special for many reasons. The music was wonderful and prepared our hearts to receive God’s message. Then, from Luke’s gospel and the life of Adoniram Judson, we learned how God sometimes works providentially in the lives of His people to bring about His purposes. Finally, it was special to me personally, as I had the privilege to stand before God’s saints at Airport Baptist Church as we together seek to bear fruit unto righteousness and a harvest of souls for our glorious Savior and King.
The message for this Sunday deals with an issue I believe is affecting the church as much as anything today. Since the Days of the Enlightenment in the 18th century (also known as the Age of Reason), many intellectuals have sought to emphasize reason over superstition and science over religion (what they consider blind faith). This movement was met with much push back from the church in those early years, but with Charles Darwin’s The Origin of Species and The Descent of Man in the later half of the 19th century, more and more people have come to believe that his theory of evolution has actually proved that there is no God. But is this indeed the case?
Come join us this Sunday, as we look at the Word of God, creation and the universe to assess whether modern academia’s assertions that evolution has disproved God’s existence and also at some of the questions now be raised by scientists that seems to indicate that there must be a Supreme Being after all. We look forward to seeing you there.
For His glory and His alone,
Pastor Terry.
